vertical pipe would probably bend or break if not wall attached. there is a lot of stress on vertical pipe when using the rinse head. users would not be careful to not put stress on that vertical pipe.

This deck mount pre-rinse does not need to be attached to the wall. It simply attaches to the sink. However, wall brackets are avaiable and we generally recommend them for stability purposes.
