The blade assembly is all metal.

The connection for the blade drive, between the motor and the container, consists of 2 hard rubber gears with dogs that mesh together when the container is placed on the base.

Mine shows no signs of wear after 6 months of daily use.

The blade assembly is mostly metal but does contain some "soft parts" including seals. The drive coupling also contains a housing seal which is not metal.
