They will stack and seal without a lid. I do this all of the time. I don't even own lids. I just use an empty box to cover the top one with dough in it. These are a great solution for retarding dough in the fridge or proofing dough at room temperature.

Yes, I recommend using a lid if you are planning on stacking them while they are filled with dough. Part number for the lid is CHLPBC.
