Both materials distribute heat well although cast iron retains heat better and will stay warm for a longer period of time. If you are planning on using the grill frequently, I recommend the cast iron. If you are going to be using the grill every once in a while then you should go with the aluminum because it heats up faster. Lastly, cast iron is more durable but requires more maintenance because it can rust if not cared for properly. I have attached the cast iron model (same size as the one above) below if you are interested.
